Allow us to introduce Lewis — a dignified, dashing, tri-color boy who embodies everything that makes miniature bernedoodles one of the most beloved companion dogs in the world. Lewis wears the classic Bernedoodle tri-color palette with distinction: deep, rich black forms the foundation of his plush coat, while warm rust-copper tones frame his expressive face, eyebrows, and legs, and clean white markings punctuate his chest and chin like a perfectly pressed dress shirt. He looks like a tiny, fluffy gentleman — and he carries himself with just the right amount of confident charm to back up that impression.
Lewis is expected to mature at 20–25 pounds, placing him firmly in the micro size category that so many modern dog lovers have come to adore. He’s compact without being fragile, small enough for city living and easy travel, yet solid and sturdy enough to keep up with an active lifestyle. Lewis will be as happy hiking a moderate trail with you on a Saturday morning as he is curled up beside you on the couch Saturday afternoon.
From the very beginning, Lewis has stood out in his litter for his steady, assured personality. He’s not the loudest puppy or the most rambunctious — he’s the one who watches quietly, assesses the situation, and then approaches with calm confidence. There’s a certain soulfulness to Lewis that sets him apart. He is deeply observant, emotionally attuned, and possessed of the kind of quiet loyalty that Bernese Mountain Dog enthusiasts have cherished for generations. He won’t be your clown — he’ll be your anchor.
That said, Lewis has plenty of playfulness in him. When the mood is right and the energy is there, he’s right in the middle of the action — chasing, tumbling, tugging, and playing with equal enthusiasm. He has the classic Bernedoodle duality: the ability to be fully present in moments of play and fully relaxed in moments of rest. This emotional flexibility makes him an exceptionally easy dog to live with, capable of reading the room and adjusting accordingly.
Miniature bernedoodles like Lewis have become so popular for excellent reasons. They combine the best qualities of two extraordinary breeds — the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle — to produce a companion dog that is loyal, intelligent, trainable, low-shedding, and deeply affectionate. Lewis carries these traits beautifully. His Bernese heritage gives him that gentle, devoted, family-first temperament. His Poodle heritage gives him a sharp mind, quick learning ability, and a coat that sheds minimally — great news for anyone who prefers their furniture fur-free.
Training Lewis will be a genuinely rewarding experience. He has already shown strong responsiveness to his name, early engagement with enrichment activities, and a clear inclination toward focus and attention during learning moments. He’s the kind of puppy who makes training feel like a collaboration rather than a struggle — he wants to understand what you want, and he genuinely enjoys the process of figuring it out. Positive reinforcement will bring out the very best in him, and with consistent, patient guidance, Lewis will develop into a beautifully mannered adult dog.
Lewis’s tri-color coat is plush, soft, and wavy — exactly what you hope for in a Bernedoodle. The colors are rich and clearly defined, the texture is wonderfully touchable, and the low-shedding nature of the coat means less maintenance than most dogs his size. He will benefit from regular brushing at home and periodic professional grooming to keep his coat healthy, tangle-free, and looking its absolute best. A groomed, well-maintained tri-color miniature bernedoodle is a sight to behold, and Lewis is no exception.
Socialization has been an important and intentional part of Lewis’s early development at Paw Tale Puppies. He has been gently exposed to a variety of experiences, sounds, textures, and people from the earliest weeks of his life, establishing the kind of broad, confident comfort with the world that makes for a wonderful adult dog. He is easy to handle, comfortable with strangers, compatible with other dogs, and patient and gentle with children of all ages.
Lewis will come home to his new family health-checked, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. He’ll include a Paw Tale Puppies health guarantee, a puppy starter pack, and access to our ongoing support. We care deeply about the wellbeing of every dog we raise, and Lewis is one of our finest examples of what dedicated, loving breeding can produce.
If you’ve been searching for a miniature bernedoodle with classic tri-color beauty, quiet depth of character, balanced energy, and the unwavering loyalty that makes this breed so extraordinary — Lewis is the one. He will be your steadfast companion, your daily comfort, and one of the best decisions you ever make. Lewis is ready. Is your home ready for him?

Melvin was very helpful with our purchase of Rusty (formerly Anthony) a mini Bernadoodle. The facility is very clean. I would recommend Tall Tale Puppies for your next puppy.Posted on Google Cathy WorleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. was very happy with my experience with bringing a bernedoodle puppy home from Paw Tale Puppies. Melvin Lapp seems to genuinely care about the ethics of his breeding program and the quality of the socialization and care his family provides to his puppies. I liked that he was not only thoughtful in breeding for temperament but also using genetic testing to inform breeding decisions to support healthy starts for the puppies. Melvin took time to listen to what was important to me in choosing a puppy and had a recommendation for me of which puppy he thought might be a good fit if I agreed when I met the puppy.  I was able to see the puppies virtually before making an appointment to pick the puppy up. I really liked the puppy Melvin recommended and chose to bring him home. When picking my new puppy up, I saw that the environment was clean and well organized. Records were well kept. My puppy is curious, happy, and affectionate. He’s very intelligent and picks up training very quickly. He had been well socialized at Paw Tale Puppies. He was used to household sounds and activity and was calm during grooming and nail trimming. He’s done well with meeting new people. He gets along very well with my two-year-old dog and has been a really great addition to the family. I would recommend exploring Paw Tale Puppies as a good option if you’re looking for a lovable dog with good temperament who has been given a healthy start in life.Posted on Google Lisa KlotzTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I reached out on Friday, February 20th to inquire about Gracie, an 8 week old Micro Bernedoodle and received an immediate response about her availability. The following day we drove 5 hours to see her. We fell in love with her right away and decided to take her home with us. Melvin was wonderful to work with as he prepared her paperwork, took care of having her microchipped, and providing us with a care package. We were extremely impressed with how clean the facility is kept and with the fenced in yard where the puppies can run around. Gracie is a wonderful addition to our family.Posted on Google Carol TothTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had the pleasure of meeting Melvin, the owner, while picking up our new puppy yesterday. First let me say that he was very professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and most importantly, Melvin has a true passion for what he is doing. The location where he breeds and raises the puppies is also connected to his home. Therefore he is never disconnected from the puppies or his family. Everything about this made us feel more comfortable and trusting purchasing a puppy from him. His belief and process for raising his puppies until they are ready to go home with you is amazing. He truly cares about each and every puppy making sure they are healthy, socialized, are exercised, are played with, and loved. In my opinion this makes a huge difference and sets them apart from every "pet store". This I believe will also help develop the dogs personality. Our puppy, an almost 9 week old mini bernedoodle, is amazing. You can tell she was socialized because she is not timid or shy. She has the perfect temperament as well. She is playful, seems to listen very well, and is already our shadow following us everywhere and wanting to be held and pet all the time. The bond was almost immediate. All of this is because of the process Melvin truly believes in and makes sure all of his puppies are raised this way. A true testament to his passion. I will make sure I will recommend Paw Tale Puppies to our friends or anyone looking for a puppy. After our expierence, I can't imagine anyone wanting to purchase their pet from anyone else.Posted on Google Patrick MunleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The absolute best experience! <3 Me and my husband drove from Massachusetts to pick up our Christmas puppy. We named him Dasher. He is the absolute cutest and the best little puppy! We have two big Sheepadoodles and I've always wanted a smaller dog. He fits right in. The facility is gorgeous and clean. Melvin is great! Answered all our questions and was very thorough and thoughtful. Even checked in to make sure Dasher was adjusting to his new home. Thank you so much Melvin!Posted on Google Liz Lima
The Micro Bernedoodle is our smallest take on the Bernedoodle, bred for families who want that same loving Bernedoodle spirit in an especially compact package. Rather than crossing directly from a Bernese Mountain Dog, our Micro lines come primarily from Poodle and Mini Bernedoodle pairings, allowing us to bring the size down while still preserving the intelligence, affection, and playful nature Bernedoodles are known for. Their low-shed coats make them a wonderful option for allergy-sensitive households, while their eager-to-please nature makes training a genuinely enjoyable experience.
Micro Bernedoodles typically inherit the best traits of their lineage, resulting in a charming, adaptable companion that fits beautifully into smaller homes and apartment living. Despite their petite size, they carry big personalities — affectionate, loyal, and always eager to be wherever their family is. Whether you’re looking for a lap-sized cuddle buddy or a spirited little shadow to follow you around the house, the Micro Bernedoodle brings that same devoted nature in a smaller frame.
With their soft, wavy-to-curly coats and warm, expressive eyes, Micro Bernedoodles are undeniably charming. Coat colors and patterns can vary widely, but that classic scruffy, huggable look remains a constant. Regular grooming helps keep their coat healthy and mat-free. Overall, the Micro Bernedoodle offers an ideal combination of intelligence, affection, and easy-to-manage size for families who want a smaller dog without sacrificing personality.
It’s a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Toy Poodle, often bred across multiple generations to achieve the tiny size. A Micro Bernedoodle is even smaller than a “Mini,” typically weighing between 10 and 20 pounds.Â
Their lifespan is quite long, usually 14 to 18 years. One of the best perks of shrinking the breed is the lifespan. While a purebred Bernese may only live 7–9 years, a Micro Bernedoodle can live much longer, largely because the smaller heart and joints of the Poodle lineage are less prone to “giant breed” issues.
They have “bursts” of energy followed by long naps. While they love a good 20-minute game of fetch, they don’t require the miles of walking that a larger dog does, making them perfect for owners who prefer a more relaxed lifestyle.
While no dog is truly 100% hypoallergenic, Micros are as close as it gets. Because they are mostly Poodle (genetically speaking), they produce very little dander. If you have severe allergies, look for an F1b generation, which is 75% Poodle.
Since they don’t shed, the dead hair can get trapped in the coat. If not brushed daily, this hair creates “mats” which act like tight knots against the skin. We recommend a professional grooming every 6 to 8 weeks.Â
Don’t let the “toy” look fool you; these dogs are highly intelligent. The Poodle is consistently ranked as the second smartest dog breed in the world. They are incredibly bright. They inherit the “problem-solving” skills of the Poodle and the “emotional intelligence” of the Bernese. They can learn tricks in just a few repetitions, but they can also use that brainpower to figure out how to open cabinets or find hidden treats!
