Toy Bernedoodles

The Toy Bernedoodle is the smallest size we offer — the tiniest possible expression of everything that makes a Bernedoodle special. To get there, our Toy lines rely on the heaviest poodle backcrossing in our program, pushing size down while keeping every ounce of that signature intelligence, affection, and playful spirit intact. That concentrated poodle influence also gives them one of the lowest-shed, most allergy-friendly coats we offer, making Toys a favorite for allergy-sensitive households.

Small in size, but never small in personality — that’s the Toy Bernedoodle in a nutshell. They’re affectionate, sharp, and endlessly eager to please, settling into training and family routines with surprising ease for such a little dog. Their compact frame makes them a natural fit for apartments, smaller homes, or anyone who wants a true lap-sized companion — one that’s just as happy tucked beside you as they are trailing behind you room to room.

Their coats come in the same wide range of colors and patterns as our other sizes, with that soft, wavy-to-curly texture that calls for regular grooming to stay healthy and mat-free. As with every dog in our program, our Toy Bernedoodles’ parents go through OFA health testing as part of our ongoing commitment to sound, healthy breeding. For families who want the full Bernedoodle experience in our smallest possible size, the Toy Bernedoodle is where that journey ends — and it’s a wonderful place to land.

Deep Dive Into Our Bernedoodle Sizing

Toy Bernedoodle: 10 - 20 Lbs

Our Toy Bernedoodles are produced through carefully selected pairings of smaller parents, with each generation helping us refine their compact size. Because genetics are unique, no two pairings produce exactly the same result, but our Toy Bernedoodles are generally expected to mature between 10–20 pounds.

Micro Bernedoodle: 25 - 35 Lbs

Micro Bernedoodles fall into the sweet spot between our smallest Toys and larger Mini Bernedoodles, with some natural size overlap between the two. Their mature size is influenced by the size and genetics of both parents, with our pairings selected to consistently produce that smaller Bernedoodle build. What sets the Micro apart isn’t just size, though — it’s a heavier emphasis on Poodle genetics, which shapes a coat that leans more consistently low-shed and hypoallergenic. Most of our Micros are expected to mature between 25–35 pounds.

Mini Bernedoodle: 25 - 35 Lbs

Mini Bernedoodles typically mature between 25–35 pounds, with their final size depending on the genetics and size of their parents. Our program specializes primarily in Toy, Micro, and even smaller Munchkin Bernedoodles, so while we do occasionally have a Mini litter, they’re less common for us than our smaller sizes.

Meet Our Bernedoodles By Coat Color

Merle Bernedoodles

No two Merle Bernedoodles look quite the same. Their coats feature beautiful marbling, patches, and variations of color that can create truly one-of-a-kind markings. While we love the uniqueness of merle, health always comes first in our breeding program—we never breed two merle dogs together, avoiding the increased health risks associated with double merle puppies.

Black Tri Bernedoodles

The Black Tri is the classic Bernedoodle look, drawing its beautiful black, white, and rust coloring from the traditional markings of the Bernese Mountain Dog. It’s a timeless coat that celebrates the breed’s heritage and gives our puppies that unmistakable Bernedoodle appearance families have loved from the beginning.

Red Tuxedo Bernedoodles

There’s something especially elegant about a Red Tuxedo Bernedoodle. Their rich red coloring paired with crisp white markings creates a bright, polished look reminiscent of a perfectly tailored tuxedo. Add in the playful, joyful personality of a Bernedoodle, and you get a puppy whose appearance is every bit as cheerful and charming as the dog underneath it.

Chocolate Bernedoodles

There’s something irresistibly cozy about a Chocolate Bernedoodle. Their deep, warm brown coat has a rich, velvety quality that catches the light like a fresh cup of cocoa, giving them a look that’s as comforting as it is striking. Pair that with the goofy, affectionate nature Bernedoodles are known for, and you get a puppy whose warmth isn’t just in the coat — it’s in the whole package.

Common Questions

Finding the perfect furry friend, can come with a lot of questions we are happy to answer any and all questions!

What is a Toy Bernedoodle?

A Toy Bernedoodle is a carefully bred cross between the Bernese Mountain Dog and a Toy Poodle, producing a small but remarkably well-rounded companion. They carry the beloved traits of the classic Bernedoodle — loyalty, intelligence, and a warm temperament — in a conveniently compact and portable size that fits naturally into almost any lifestyle.

How big do Toy Bernedoodles get?

Toy Bernedoodles typically weigh between 10 and 25 pounds at full maturity, though most settle comfortably in the smaller end of that range. Unlike the Munchkin Bernedoodle, their small size comes from the Toy Poodle parentage rather than a structural leg trait, giving them a more traditional dog silhouette with all the same charm.

What is their temperament like?

Warm, intuitive, and deeply loyal. The Toy Bernedoodle inherits the Bernese Mountain Dog’s calm devotion and the Toy Poodle’s lively, people-pleasing nature, creating a dog that is equally at home playing in the yard or settled quietly beside you on the couch. They read their environment well and tend to match the energy of whoever they are with.

Are they good with children and other pets?

They are. Toy Bernedoodles tend to be gentle and patient with children while remaining playful enough to genuinely enjoy the interaction. They are social by nature and generally coexist well with other dogs and household pets, particularly when early socialization is part of their upbringing.

Are Toy Bernedoodles hypoallergenic?

Not entirely, but their Toy Poodle genetics contribute strongly to a low to non-shedding coat that many allergy-sensitive families find manageable. Coat type can vary from puppy to puppy, so discussing the specific parents with your breeder gives you the best indication of what to expect.

How much exercise do they need?

Toy Bernedoodles are active and curious without being demanding. Daily walks and regular play sessions keep them happy and healthy, but they do not require the sustained physical output of a larger or more driven breed. They are well suited to apartment living as long as they receive consistent daily activity and mental engagement.

Are they easy to train?

Very. The Toy Poodle is consistently ranked among the most intelligent dog breeds in the world, and that intelligence shines through in the Toy Bernedoodle. They pick up commands quickly, respond enthusiastically to positive reinforcement, and genuinely enjoy the process of learning alongside their owner.

How much grooming do they require?

Their coat, while low-shedding, does require a consistent grooming routine. Brushing three to four times a week helps prevent tangles, and professional grooming every six to eight weeks keeps their coat at a healthy and manageable length. Ear cleaning and dental care should also be part of their regular routine.
